Kookaburra was established in 1953 to service the needs of the local community. The current site and building have been in use since 1976. The Kindergarten is managed by Blackheath Kookaburra Kindergarten Inc. The Association is made up of parent members and community representatives. The building and grounds are owned by Blue Mountains City Council, however, the Association finances the maintenance and running costs of the building and grounds.
Parent Management Committee
It is a requirement of operation that the Kindergarten has a Management Committee elected from Association members. (Parents at the centre.)
The Annual General Meeting is held in March and election of Office Bearers takes place. Information about the roles and responsibilities of Office Bearers is available. The centre cannot open or run without a Parent Management Committee with at least 6 people involved.
General meetings of the Association are held on the second Monday of the month at 4.00pm or whatever suits the current committee. Your children are welcome to attend with you.
Parents are urged to join the Committee, as the successful functioning of the Kindergarten can only be achieved by your efforts, involvement and interest.
Being a community run preschool means we rely on our local families and businesses for support. The committee host fundraising events to raise funds for the preschool.
